Among all the illnesses, diseases and conditions that humans suffer from, cancer is the one which is most feared. As per data, India is among countries with the highest cancer rate in the world and according WHO’s World Cancer Report 2018, one in 10 Indians will develop cancer during their lifetime.

Scientists and experts have been striving for long to look for a cure of cancer, but so far they have been just able to develop treatments for it. However, there have been cases when cancer patients were able to make it through cancer treatments like chemotherapy, radiation therapy, stem cell and bone marrow transplant among others.

 

 

World Cancer Day 2022: Theme

The theme of World Cancer Day 2022 is ‘Close the Care Gap’. The main aim of the initiative is to motivate reform and inspire action, even after World Cancer Day. The campaign is a multilevel campaign and focuses on more exposure and interaction, as well as more opportunities to raise awareness about the condition. The theme ‘Close the Care Gap’ revolves around identifying and recognising global disparities in cancer care.

 

 

VRIKSHASANA

This asana is also called the tree pose as you try to imitate a tree while performing it. This pose is good for relaxing and calming down the mind and body of the person.

In this pose, stand with your feet together and then lift your right foot to place it on your inner thigh of the left leg. Try to maintain balance and slowly bring your palms together while folding them to get in Pranam Mudra. Now, lift your folded palms while stretching the arms and focus on the motion. Then repeat the movement with the other leg.

 

MARJARIASANA

Marjariasana is good for people recovering from cancer as it promotes healing and ensures better health of the patient.

For Marjariasana, get on all fours with your knees bent and make a tabletop position. Place your palms on the ground shoulder-width apart and make sure that the knees are aligned directly under the hips. Now turn your toes outwards and concentrate on the pose.
